A Year and New Promise

We hope to continue this journey for the many more years to come. We promise all our valued readers that our efforts to make TC a useful newspaper will continue, of course, with your support. It gives us immense pleasure to share with our valued readers that The Corporate (TC), Nepal's only Englishlanguage business weekly currently in publication has successfully completed a year of publication. This issue of TC which is in your hands at the moment is a testimony to our unflinching commitment to keep updating you every Monday of every week with news, views and reviews about the country's business and economy sector. This fantastic journey of TC which began on January 3 last year has surely a long way to go.

There is no dearth of newspapers in the Nepali market that feed and survive on the garbage of negativity - "This is wrong", "That is not right", "Everything in Nepal is inching towards a collapse." Given the situation of our country, they may not be necessarily wrong. But we at TC think that this is also the problem of those who always see the glass as being half empty; they can never bring them to think that the glass is half full! Not only TC, but also Abhiyan daily and New Business Age monthly - the other two publications of New Business Age Pvt Ltd – want everyone to see the half-empty glass as being half full. Only such an attitude is going to motivate us all to fill the remaining half. This change from negativism to positivism, from pessimism to optimism is long overdue in Nepal. Nothing else will change unless we change our negative attitude first. The human society, including the business world, would have long ceased to exist if it was only about negative things and bad deeds. But it never was the case. That's why businesses continue to flourish around the world, creating employment and boosting the economy. Hitting hard at the incidents of corruption in the public as well as private sectors is very crucial for every media. But we believe that the media should also be able to see the positive developments which have the weakness of being overshadowed by negative happenings.

This is what we at TC have been trying to do. We have dedicated an entire page (Page 5) out of our eight pages to cover the good works being carried out by Nepal's development partners in the country. The same is true about our cover page, news page and the interview page where we try to highlight the latest positive developments in the country's business and economy sector. In short, we try to make TC a powerful pack of a positive read from the first page to the last. The comments we have received from our readers in the past one year have been very encouraging. We have received quite warm response and support from the market and the advertisers. The complaint that TC is rather thin is a valid one. We have taken this complaint very positively and promise to address this in the near future, like we improved the print and paper quality some months back. It's indeed been a wonderful journey, the past one year. We hope to continue this journey for the many more years to come. We promise all our valued readers that our efforts to make TC a useful newspaper will continue, of course, with your support.
