NPGA President’s Cup Tees off Today

The 10th event under the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2011-12, NPGA President’s Cup is going to be played at the Royal Nepal Golf Club from February 13-15.The tournament will be played over 54 holes, in which 24 professional and 21 top amateurs will take part. The playing conditions of the oldest Golf course of the country have been tweaked up for the tournament. Most participants played a practice round on Sunday to acclimatize with the conditions of the course. RNGC is known for punishing even the top players. The event carries total prize money of Rs 200,000, and the winner will get a cheque of Rs 44,000. Others in the top 18 will also receive their share of prizes.

Winner of the last four events and defending champion, Shivaram Shrestha, along with Rabi Khadka, Ramesh Adhikari, Deepak Thapa Magar, Umesh Nagarkoti will go head to head over 3 days of the championship. Top amateur Tashi Tshiring, Charlie Gurung, Wangchen Dhondup along with 4 young players from Surya Nepal NGA Youth Development Program, Dinesh Prajapati, Bikash Bogati, Ashish Pariyar and Michael Rai will compete with professionals and vie for amateur trophy.
After 36 holes of play, 18 professionals and ties will make the cut for the final round. Top 6 amateurs will make the cut for the final 18 holes. In case of any ties, the decision will be made on count back in amateur section.
