Banke Tourism Festival 2012 Kicks off

The Mid Western Regional Industrial Fair and Banke Tourism Festival 2012, a 12 day fest, has started from February 10, 2012 in Nepalgunj. The fest is jointly organised by Nepalgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI), Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Small and Cottage Industry Development Fund and the government on the premises of Mid- Western Regional Division Road Office. “The fair will boost business activities in the mid western region,” said Bhaskar Raj Rajkarnikar, Senior Vice President of FNCCI during the inauguration of the fair. He added that since the mid western region is a hub for herbs, the fair should prioritise it. Different tourism, agriculture, small and cottage industry and financial sector organisations are exhibiting their goods and services at the fair.
“The festival has been organised in order to bring investors, producers, distributors and exporters together to a single forum to boost economic activities and promote tourist spots in the region,” said Sunil Kumar Sharma, president of NCCI. The fair has more than 250 stalls including those of ICT companies, cottage industries and a variety of food item. “We have been successful in placing international level stalls as well,” said Sharma, “To entertain the visitors, regional and national level artists will perform at the fair.” The organisers expect around 200,000 visitors and a business of over Rs 40 million at the fair.
